STREAM: “LONELY HEAVEN”

“IF NINE INCH NAILS FORMED IN THE 21ST CENTURY, THEY’D BE OPENING UNDER THIS BAND”. – DSCVRD

Today, industrial-pop upstarts Crash Cathedral shared their new two part single Static / Lonely Heaven”. The song is accompanied by a cinematic visualizer created by notable glitch artist Displaced / Replaced. Exploring a synthesis of industrial, mainstream-pop and 90s’ era darkwave, the band’s latest single is a glimpse into their singular approach to songwriting. The song was self-produced and recorded by the band with additional production and mixing from Robbie Townsend (Velveteen Studios). The soaring vocals of the track mingle with a synth drenched sense of darkness punctuated by layers of swirling guitar over a mechanical soundscape, bolstering a melody that is every bit as menacing as it is catchy. Mainstream fans won’t be left behind by the band’s alternative tendencies, the vocals would sound right at home on pop radio while being elevated by the groups well curated underground influences.  The visualizer is equal parts tantalizing and eerie, creating a perfect framework for the group’s sonic experimentation. You can view it here.

Diving into the themes and process behind the song, the band has this to say

“Static / Lonely Heaven’ was conceptualized as a song that would show a combined love for pop, industrial and darkwave while still sounding focused and intentional. The song itself is about the loss of connection within a relationship that feels impossible to walk away from; leaving both partners trapped in a ‘lonely heaven’ of their own making.”

“The jarring mechanical rhythms and guitar layers blend together with Nick’s vocals (which are inspired by artists like The Weeknd) in a way that we are really proud of, and is a taste of what to expect from us in the future. Our friend Displaced / Replaced brought it all together with the glitchy visualizer and added a cinematic quality to the song – absolutely required viewing if you enjoy the track!”

Crash Cathedral will be releasing several remixes featuring NYC based post-industrial producer Confines and dark electronic artist Kiss Of The Whip throughout the remainder of this year, with more new music planned for early 2022.
