Elton John will apparently perform at former duet partner George Michael‘s funeral. NME says he’ll reprise “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me,” the song he and Michael famously sang together at a 1991 concert in Wembley Arena.

Michael passed away on Christmas Day, reportedly due to heart failure, He was found at home in Goring-On-Thames, Oxfordshire, by partner Fadi Fawaz. “I am in deep shock,” John said via Instagram. “I have lost a beloved friend – the kindest, most generous soul and a brilliant artist.” Tribute from the likes of Queen and Paul McCartney also immediately began pouring in.

Metro is now reporting that there could be both a private and public service for the singer. Other reports say he will be buried in North London next to his mother Lesley, who died of cancer in 1997. “George’s love for his mother remained as strong as it had always been, and he always said he hoped he would be able to be with her again,” a family friend told The Sun. “It’s what he would have wanted.”

John’s duet with Michael on “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” went to No. 1 in both America and the U.K. in December 1991. He later joined McCartney on stage in 2005 at Live 8 for a rendition of “Drive My Car,” and then in the studio for a remake of “Heal the Pain” from Michael’s 1990 album Listen Without Prejudice Vol. 1.
