Apparently there are only so many ways that you can throw a chair across the room before the routine starts to get old, which is perhaps why Steven Spielberg and Tobe Hooper’s 1982 haunted house movie Poltergeist is the latest piece of classic horror to have a modern remake slated for imminent release.

Casting calls for the remake have now begun, with plans to start shooting in September, and with them come details of some of the characters who will be making an appearance in the revamped version of Poltergeist

So should I even ask? Who is looking forward to it? Who wants to beat down the person that thought this would be a good idea??

Over a month ago, the viral marketing for Man of Steel started to ramp back up with a message from Michael Shannon’s character, General Zod. The original video was a message for the people of Earth and for Superman himself, Kal-El.

Now, the messages have returned and are appearing in different languages when users visit the official Man of Steel website. The last time these messages presented themselves, a new trailer for the film followed only two days later. A new trailer for Man of Steel trailer has been confirmed by Deluxe and is expected to launch sometime this week and will likely premiere in theaters with The Hangover Part III this weekend.

Hitting 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters, the action adventure also stars Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.

Canadian rockers Rush have a lot to celebrate this year: 45 years of playing music together, a current tour that’s selling out arenas all over North America and of course, their recent induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

But, reflecting on this incredible journey in a conversation with Red Hot Chili Peppers and Chickenfoot drummer Chad Smith, guitarist Alex Lifeson openly acknowledges the folks that helped move them one step further forward in their early days — such as original drummer John Rutsey, who left the band in 1974 citing health issues.

“He was self-conscious about [his] diabetes,” Lifeson says. “He worried about touring, going away, how he would store his insulin and those sort of things. I think when it came down to it, he had a very rough year before we got our American deal…and went on tour.”

The conversation with Smith — released in multiple parts as a podcast through MusicRadar — is a loose freewheeling one that touches on everything from Lifeson’s interest in flying airplanes and the HOF induction ceremony that included appearances from Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins of Foo Fighters. But the most compelling moments come when Lifeson opens up about drummer Neil Peart’s struggles following the death of his wife and daughter.

“It was a very difficult time,” Lifeson remembers. “I think he recognized that he’d gone through a terrible, difficult period where he didn’t play. There was a good reason why he couldn’t do it…and it was a long, hard climb to get back up. That doesn’t account for all the turmoil that you’re feeling, and this horrific experience that he went through. How do you eliminate, or at least dilute that? We were there all along for him.”

The F4 tornado that cut a path through Moore, Oklahoma on Monday has left at least 24 dead and many more injured. Families, including the family of country’s own Toby Keith, are spending the days following coming to terms with the tragedy and the debris left behind. The singer revealed that his sister’s house was among those damaged by the storm.

During an interview with CNN‘s Anderson Cooper, Keith said the storm passed less than a mile from his mother’s house. Plaza Towers Elementary School, where seven students died and more are missing, was just blocks from where he grew up. The damage and death toll would have been worse, he said, had it not been for the work of local meteorologists and media preparing residents for the storm.

“This storm has devastated the community that I grew up in,” Keith said on his website. “I rode my bike through those neighborhoods. I have family and friends in Moore. My heart and prayers go to those that have lost so much. But Moore is strong and we will persevere. God be with you all.”

Previous estimates of over 50 dead were reduced on Tuesday, but the total is likely to rise still. Early ’00s singer Kellie Coffey also comes from Moore, but many more country singers were raised or currently live in the state. Blake Shelton, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill and Carrie Underwood all have Oklahoma roots.

Motley Crue bassist Nikki Sixx took socialite and all-around media . . . uh, “personality” Kim Kardashian to task on Monday (May 20), after the bad-reality-TV-star-turned-product pitch woman posted to Twitter to promote her new bronzer line during the horrific tornado that touched down in Moore, Okla. and struck an elementary school, reportedly leaving at least 51 people dead in its wake.

“Love that I can gradually build the perfect bronzed glow I want with #KardashianSunKissed Tan Extender w/ Bronzers!” the apparently oblivious Kardashian tweeted to her enormous brood of more than 17 million Twitter followers Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sixx was tweeting, “PLEASE Text “REDCROSS” to 90999 for $10 donation to help tornado victims in #OKC Sending out our prayers.” He was joined across the blogosphere by other celebrities and their followers who were all pulling together to try to do whatever good they could in getting information out for those who wanted to help. When Kardashian’s tweet came to his attention, Sixx lost his patience and posted, “Pick your priority or pick your poison. Pretty embarrassing screen shot Kim. Isn’t your 15 minutes up…” accompanied by the following image:

The debutante and reality TV princess, who shot to fame on TV’s ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ after making her public debut in a widely-seen sex tape, did not reply directly to Sixx, but did post a photo to Instagram later in the day that said, “Praying for Oklahoma.”

Her followers will also undoubtedly be interested to know that, according to a later tweet, “My pregnancy lips are outta control.”

Planned for a big screen adaptation with Leonardo DiCaprio set to star since late 2009, 20th Century Fox’s Travis McGee appears to finally be moving forward with Paul Greengrass directing. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Dennis Lehane is set to adapt the screenplay, based on the John D. MacDonald novel “The Deep Blue Good-by”. Published in 1964, the novel marks the first of nearly two dozen “Travis McGee” novels and is officially described as follows:

Travis McGee — He’s a self-described beach bum who won his houseboat in a card game. He’s also a knight errant who’s wary of credit cards, retirement benefits, political parties, mortgages, and television. He only works when his cash runs out and his rule is simple: he’ll help you find whatever was taken from you, as long as he can keep half…

Himself a prominent novelist, Lehane’s novel Shutter Island was turned into a feature film with DiCaprio in the lead in 2010.

DiCaprio will also produce Travis McGee alongside Jennifer Davisson-Killoran, Peter Chernin and Amy Robinson.
