George Strait announced the final tour dates of his career at a press conference at At&T Stadium Monday (Sept. 9). Strait will hit the road in January of 2014 for a string of dates that will kick off in Louisiana and run for 26 shows before wrapping up at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
Strait announced his retirement from the road last September at a press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. The iconic country singer revealed that he would split his farewell tour into two legs that would begin in 2013 and conclude in 2014, after which he would retire from active touring.
He hit the road with Martina McBride last year, selling out some of the biggest venues in the country. The entertainer is not retiring from music, however; he still plans to release a new album every year.
“The first leg of the tour earlier this year was very fun, but also very emotional,” Strait says. “Every city and venue holds such great memories. I’m really looking forward to seeing our fans out on the road in 2014.”
George Strait fan club members will be able to purchase tickets exclusively during a pre-sale period beginning at 10AM in each venue’s respective time zone on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Additionally, American Express Cardmembers can purchase tickets before the general public.
Tickets available to the general public will go on sale in select markets beginning Sept. 27 at 10AM (time zone restraints apply) here.
