With their induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame coming soon, Heart have taken the opposite approach as Guns N’ Roses. On Saturday (Feb. 16), it was revealed that the band’s original lineup will reunite and perform at the ceremony in April.

The news comes courtesy of the Examiner, who noticed a post on original guitarist Roger Fisher’s Facebook page, which read, “I haven’t seen anyone announce it yet: THE ORIGINAL HEART LINEUP WILL PLAY AT THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION CEREMONY.” This is believed to be the first time they will have performed together since Fisher’s departure in 1979.

Fisher left the group, which he co-founded as The Army in 1963 and eventually morphed into Heart, when his personal relationship with Nancy Wilson ended. Two original members, bassist Steven Fossen and drummer Mike Derosier, quit in 1982, and keyboardist Howard Leese remained until 1997.

This contradicts what Ann Wilson told Rolling Stone back in December when the announcement of their induction was first made. “[T]he performing part might be different because of the whole Ann and Nancy Wilson versus the Heart band,” she said. “We’ve been playing with our current band way, way longer than that. You know this is one of those things we’ll need to dust off among ourselves. But we’re both really happy if the initial lineup of guys gets acknowledged.” When asked directly if she was willing to perform with the original group, she gave a succinct, “No. Nope.”

The induction ceremony will take place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on April 18. Heart will be inducted by Chris Cornell of Soundgarden.
