IT Opens To A Record Breaking $117 Million Weekend!

Once the trailers started hitting television, people knew the IT remake was going to be huge. But, I don’t think people were expecting this.

Weekend estimates are coming in and it looks like Warner Bros. and New Line’s IT remake took in $117,000,000 in ticket sales this weekend, easily taking the #1 spot at the box office. The film, based on the novel by Stephen King, was produced on a production budget of $35,000,000 with an extra $30,000,000 thrown in for media and promotion. Already, IT is a critical and financial giant and the biggest success story of 2017.

Not only that, but it’s going to go down in history as a record breaking film. According to BoxOfficeMoJo, IT now holds the record for Largest September Weekend Debut, Largest Fall Weekend Debut, Largest Opening Weekend For An R Rated Horror Movie and The Second Largest Opening Weekend For An R Rated Movie of Any Genre.

The film, directed by Andres Muschietti and starring Bill Skarsgard, also brought in $62,000,000 in foreign markets this weekend.
