Marion Cotillard Joins Brad Pitt-Robert Zemeckis Spy Thriller
Lost in the shuffle of the news about Netflix picking up the rights to the Brad Pitt miitary comedy War Machine was a small tidbit in the Deadline story that Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard would be joining Pitt in his planned, still-untitled period spy thriller to be directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film is being developed for Paramount by New Regency and producer Graham King.
Written by Steven Knight (Eastern Promises), the plot for the movie is being kept under wraps but presumably Cotillard will film it after the movie adaptation of Assassin’s Creed, also for New Regency (to be distributed by Fox).
According to the Variety story, Pitt and Zemeckis asked the studio to push back production to early 2016 to accommodate the casting of Cotillard while Pitt films the aforementioned military comedy War Machine.
The movie will reunite Zemeckis with Paramount following their 2012 hit Flight, which received two Oscar nominations. It will be produced by King, Zemeckis, and Steve Starke with Knight, Jack Rapke, Patrick McCormick and Denis O’Sullivan on as executive producers.
