Pilot Episode of Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” Has Been Written
Announced last year, Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have optioned the rights to 11 books from Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles series, of course led by the iconic character Lestat de Lioncourt. Rice herself has been tapped to executive produce, with son Christopher Rice serving as writer and exec producer.
It was reported back in January that Bryan Fuller is also on board.
Over on the official Facebook page for The Vampire Chronicles today, Christopher Rice showed off the cover page for the pilot episode’s script, suggesting that writing is complete on it. It’s labeled “The Vampire Lestat” – Episode 101, “Wolf Killer.”
Last we heard, Season 1 will cover The Vampire Lestat, the second book in Rice’s series. Set in 18th century France, the story is told from the point of view of Lestat de Lioncourt, a young man desperate to break free from his life and become an actor in Paris. Of course, he ends up being turned into a vampire by Magnus.
“I want to begin right there and follow the adventures of Lestat through the Chronicles,” Rice noted last year.
