“Stranger Things:” Finn Wolfhard Says You Probably Shouldn’t Expect Season 4 Until 2022

The pandemic pretty well screwed up Netflix’s plans for the fourth season of “Stranger Things,” but the good news is that filming is back on track and the series is once again making headlines as a result. But when exactly can we expect the new season to premiere? Is it coming later this year or even further down the road? Finn Wolfhard may have an answer.

And, well, you may not love it.

Season 4…. It should be out sometime next year, hopefully,” Wolfhard apparently told a fan in a recent video chat, the quote brought to our attention by Games Radar today.

As producer Shawn Levy explained last year, the pandemic delay may be making the wait for Season 4 unbearably long, but it may actually have a positive impact on the season’s quality.

Levy had told Collider in November 2020, “I’ll just say the pandemic definitely massively delayed shooting and therefore the launch of our current Season 4, date still TBD. But it impacted very positively by allowing the Duffer brothers, for the first time ever, to write the entire season before we shoot it and to have time to rewrite in a way that they rarely had before so the quality of these screenplays are exceptional, maybe better than ever.”

What we know of Season 4 thus far is that Hopper is still alive, “imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human…and other.”

“Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long buried, something that connects everything….”

“Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more,” the Duffer Brothers had said back in February of last year.

The season’s cast includes Robert Englund, who will play Victor Creel, a disturbed man who is imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital for a gruesome murder in the 1950s.
