HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Stars and industry pros from all corners of adult honored their own at the Highlands nightclub last evening as the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) celebrated its 26th Annual Awards show.

One of the big winners was show presenter and gonzo star Bobbi Starr who picked up two honors for Superslut (which she also won last year) and Orgasmic Oralist.

Other trophies went to Elegant Angel, X-Play, LFP Video and Wicked Pictures all copping multiple studio awards. There was even a tie for Best POV movie.

Starr said she loves XRCO because it offers a service that supports the stars. The performer jumped up and down on receiving her second XRCO plaque. “I never thought I’d win, no less two awards!,” she exclaimed.

Show organizer Dirty Bob said, “The XRCO Awards Shows are unique in that, being industry-only, it is strictly an industry-based event rather than like all of the others which are mostly fan-based. In other words, this was a party for the industry where (once beyond the Red Carpet are, naturally) they can relax, be themselves, and hang out and enjoy the evening without having to put on a public face.”

He added, “Our co-hosts (Sean Michaels, Lisa Ann, & Nikki Benz) were an added draw and were hand picked for their industry appeal and popularity. The trophy girls (Chanel Preston and Angel Vain) kept things lively and fun. A thanks to all of the X-Rated critics out there who make this event, and the XRCO, still a commanding presence after 26 years!”

Industry execs also joined the stars for this year’s party.

“Rarely do you get the opportunity to attend an event with such a high saturation of leading adult entertainment performers,” said Alec Helmy, XBIZ President and Publisher. “It’s great to see the community come together to acknowledge each other’s successes. Congratulations to all the winners and nominees.”

Adult entertainment superstars Nikki Benz and Lisa Ann joined the legendary swordsman Sean Michaels on stage to host this year’s gala event.

Benz commented, “I’m honored to have been picked as a co-host for the 26th Annual XRCO Awards. Especially to be hosting alongside such legends as Lisa Ann and Sean Michaels. This was the best XRCO show as far as I can recall! Its’ really exciting for me to be a co-host. This year has started out with a bang for me and it’s only getting bigger and brighter!”

Another winner, legend Tom Byron said the win for his “Seasoned Players” title is getting him to think that he has a talent for hosting. “This win is great and makes me realize I’m a good conversationalist and I think people are into hearing about the veterans. Like I have a history with Kelly Nichols that I should parley into something.”

Fellow veteran Brad Armstrong who accepted for Wicked’s Best Epic “2040″ win told XBIZ that the award makes him more confident about high-end productions and that Wicked’s “big” movie of the year is in the pre-production phase and an announcement is only days away.

     The Free Speech Coalition held its annual fundraiser Saturday night at the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles and with the industry’s top professionals in attendance, awards were handed out to adult entertainment pioneers.

FSC Executive Director Diane Duke kicked off the Bada-Bing Bailout Bash with encouraging words for the audience stressing the importance of supporting the organization and its members’ fight for free speech noting that the industry’s future prosperity is at stake.

“In these difficult financial times, it is important that the industry come together to recognize and celebrate our history, our strengths and our successes,” Duke told XBIZ.

Mistress of Ceremonies Nina Hartley entertained while she guided the audience with introductions of award presenters and videos honoring four of the five FSC Award recipients.

Prior to handing out the awards, attorney Aaron Bloom spoke of his support of same-sex marriage and encouraged attendees to join the fight to repeal Proposition 8 with the organization Love Honor Cherish.

Bloom’s father, CalExotics director of marketing Al Bloom, is among the FSC’s founders and discussed having to juggle managing adult businesses throughout the years and dealing with federal, state and local prosecution.

FSC Board Chair and 1st Amendment attorney Jeffrey Douglas introduced a video tribute to FSC Legacy Award recipient Larry Flynt and a standing ovation followed as attendees honored the one of the most influential leaders in the adult industry.

The FSC awarded Peggy Oettinger, CEO of Sinclair Institute, as Woman of the Year. In her adult career, she successfully fought obscenity charges alongside Adam & Eve in North Carolina.

Evil Angel founder John Stagliano addressed his determination to fight for freedom of speech as he accepted the FSC Man of Year Award and the video tribute that preceded his speech gave attendees a look at his ongoing obscenity trial.

Adult performer Sunny Lane introduced Positive Image Award recipient Ron Jeremy. His video tribute provided proof of the legendary performer’s status as a pop culture icon with clips taken from mainstream T.V. shows with him as the focus.

Adult performer Stormy Daniels was not in attendance to accept her Positive Image Award.

XBIZ President Alec Helmy presented Video Secrets co-founder Greg Clayman with the Internet Company of the Year Award.

Titan Media founder Bruce Cam accepted the Production Company of the Year Award, presented by Chi Chi LaRue, who mentioned the company’s fight against piracy.

FSC membership director Joanne Cachapero and Cousin Stevie gave the Novelty Company of the Year to The Screaming O with partners Keith Caggiano and Justin Ross accepting.

“As we walked through the presentation of the evening’s awards to Larry Flynt, John Stagliano, Peggy Oettinger, Ron Jeremy, Video Secrets, Titan and Screaming O, it is clear that our industry not only boasts a proud heritage, but also a bright future,” Duke said.

The mobster-themed event also included a raffle, silent auction and gambling and was attended by several adult celebrities including Kayden Kross, Joanna Angel, Ira Levine, Roy Karch, Jules Jordan, Sharon Kane, Tom Byron, Bobbi Star, Jeff Mullen and Tanner Mayes, among several others.

       Last night the Free Speech Coalition and Hustler Hollywood joined forces to  hold a very special  ”Sex, Drinks & Rock’n'Roll Freedomfest” at the legendary rock venue Whisky a Go-Go and it was the party/event that you should have been at if you did not attend.

I have to take my hat off to FSC Membership Director Joanne Cachapero who did an amazing job getting everybody to come out for this event and for making working the red carpet for this event so much easier by announcing the names of everyone from the Wicked Girls to Sasha Grey. Industry personalities like Tony Batman returned from being in Florida to MC the event for everyone and Jack Napier who I last saw at the Xpeeps.com party at VICE wearing a full on Laker outfit was in charge of the music.

Sunny Lane was at this event, and I have not seen her since Erotica and she was having a blast modeling Hustler Lingerie and just being her sweet self.

Screaming-0 held their Erotica LA staple event the fake-orgasm-sounds. The people where a lot better at Erotica in regards to this fake-orgasm sound coming out of some of these girls could have been a lot better. Kayden Kross was on scene to take the crown for the simulated-blowjob on lollipop contests well she did have Keith from screaming-o be the person holding the lollipop.

The crowd was made up of a combination of adult industry professionals and the crowed also had some fans and mainstream celebrities including David “Bud Bundy” Faustino who had some fun with the crowed as well as the adult people in attendance. It was great to mix mainstream, adult and fans in one venue and they all controlled themselves. I did not see anyone go nuts and do something they where not supposed to do. 
 
Adult performers in attendance and I must say this is the most A-Listers, that I have scene at one event since Erotica LA and it included Sasha Grey, Nina Hartley, Angelina Armani, Evan Stone, Mark Davis, Joanna Angel, Tommy Gunn, Nicki Hunter, Kira King, Lori Lust, Vanessa Blue, Misti Dawn, James Deen, Claudia Valentine, Mr. Marcus, Chayse Evans, Bobbi Star, Laurie Vargas, Cleopatra of the Nile and Wicked Pictures contract performers Alektra Blue, Jessica Drake, Kirsten Price, Craig Valentine, Missy Stone and Monica Mendez.

Who by the way if you had a wrist band media or public, you could walk over to the Hustler Hollywood store where they had nice little gift bags with a lot of cool stuff from a Wicked cap(I always wanted one of those), screaming-o products, condoms and so much more.

“This has been a great event,” FSC Executive Director Diane Duke told XBIZ. “It was wonderful to have Hustler Hollywood throw this event for us for us. The Whisky donated the space, and we had our incredible sponsors to support us. It’s been an excellent evening for the Free Speech Coalition. We’re very excited about tonight.”
