We’ve all done it: We’ve sat at the bar, drinking a beer and doodled on a coaster. But most of us aren’t the extremely skilled painters, illustrators, animators, tattooists, sculptors or collage artists that are featured in this exhibition that elevates lowbrow to high art.
It’s incredible how a 4″ coaster can be the perfect, custom canvas for some of our favorite gallery folks to transform into a museum worthy exhibition piece.
The seminal show founded by curator Matt Kennedy back in 2013 continues to be the most exciting (if somewhat overwhelming) art show year after year. Past exhibitions have featured pieces by Glenn Barr, Ron English, Mark Ryden, and debuted the work of thousands of emerging artists–turning a few into bonafide stars. As always, everything is priced $250 or less.
The complete collection of Jury-selected Coasters will be open to the general public on September 3rd, and we’ll be accepting submissions in an open-call, juried selection process from Now until August 1st.
