Two fellow Georgia-based acts, Valdosta’s DYING WHALE and Atlanta’s DEAD REGISTER, have just confirmed a late Spring 2023 tour through the Southeast, as both bands work on new material.
DYING WHALE and DEAD REGISTER will pummel Florida and Georgia from June 6th through 11th with shows in Tampa, Orlando, Gainesville, Jacksonville, and Valdosta, with DYING WHALE also confirmed to play at Aura Fest in Savannah along the route. See all confirmed dates below.
DYING WHALE and DEAD REGISTER Southeast Tour 2023:
6/06/2023 Born Free Pub – Tampa, FL
6/07/2023 Will’s Pub – Orlando, FL
6/08/2023 Loosey’s – Gainesville, FL
6/09/2023 Island Tropics – Jacksonville, FL
6/10/2023 Aura Fest – Savannah, GA (no DEAD REGISTER)
6/11/2023 Ashley Street Station – Valdosta, GA
DYING WHALE’s most recent record, Problem With Immortality, was released through Nefarious Industries in 2021. The succinct but damaging EP featured two new tracks showcasing the band’s new stripped-down and lethal two-man lineup of vocalist/bassist/guitarist Matt Zagorski and drummer Eli Werth. The tracks were recorded, mixed, and mastered at Earthsound Studios with engineer/producer Lee Dyess (Mayday Parade, From First to Last, I Set My Friends on Fire) and completed with artwork by Alex Miracle. The EP bridges their Last Moments Of Misery album and the impending follow-up album which is currently being written.
DEAD REGISTER sees husband-and-wife team of vocalist/bassist M. Chvasta and keyboardist/vocalist Avril Che now joined by new drummer Greg Meisenberg (A Fucking Elephant, Maid Myriad) delivering a genre-bending, gloomy dual/sub bass attack that is at once immersive and consuming. The band released their second LP, Alive, through Seeing Red Records last year, the album recorded by the members of the band, mixed/mastered by Dan Dixon, and completed with artwork by the late Stephen Kasner. The band supported the album with multiple tours and is currently working on the follow-up album for release next year.
Watch for updates on both bands to post over the months ahead.
