Harry Potter and Peaky Blinders Star Helen McCrory Passes Away at 52

ComingSoon.net is saddened to report that award-winning actress Helen McCrory died today in London after a “heroic battle’ with cancer at age 52. McCrory’s husband, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Damian Lewis (Billions), took to Twitter to share the news of her passing.

McCrory was born in London on August 17, 1968 and studied acting at the Drama Centre. Her stage debut was in 1990 where she started a lauded theatrical career that would earn her recognition as an outstanding talent before jumping onto the screen. She is widely recognized for her role in the Harry Potter franchise as well as the James Bond films. She received acclaim for her role on Peaky Blinders as Polly Gray. Most recently she was featured in HBO Max’s His Dark Materials and was a fan favorite on Showtime’s genre show Penny Dreadful. Over the years she has worked with legendary directors such as Martin Scorsese on his love letter to cinema Hugo and contemporary co-stars like Hugh Laurie on the BBC mini-series Roadkill.

During the height of COVID-19 in London, she and Lewis made it a mission to feed frontline works in the UK. She and Lewis met in 2003 and had a daughter together.
