‘Deadpool 3’ Finds New Life as Marvel Hires “Bob’s Burgers” Duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to Write

It’s been a while since we’ve heard a peep about the future of the Deadpoolfilm franchise, with the first sequel arriving in theaters well over two years ago, but that silence has been broken with a scoop from Deadline this afternoon. According to Deadline’s Justin Kroll, Marvel Studios has hired sisters Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin to write Deadpool 3.

The sisters have long been writers, story editors and executive producers on the animated series “Bob’s Burgers,” and they also created the upcoming series “The Great North.”

Deadpool and Deadpool 2 were both written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland).

The site adds, “Sources say the film is still expected to be rated R like the previous two installments.” Worth noting because there had previously been concern that the violence and language would be toned down once Deadpool became part of Disney’s MCU.

Ryan Reynolds will be reprising the role of Deadpool/Wade Wilson in the third installment, which doesn’t yet have a director attached at this time. Stay tuned for updates.

The future of the franchise was unclear in the wake of Disney acquiring Fox, where the previous two movies had been made. Deadpool is now *officially* a Marvel Studios property.
