Elle Chase Unpacks the Pull of Desire in Mashable’s “How to Get Over a Crush”

Certified intimacy, life, and relationship coach Elle Chase lends her expertise to a new Mashable feature, “How to Get Over a Crush,” unpacking why infatuation feels so consuming and how to move forward when fantasy doesn’t meet reality.
“Someone once said ‘a crush is just a lack of information,’ and that’s the mantra I pass on to clients,” explains Chase. “A crush can feel powerful because it’s all potential, and little reality. It’s built on curiosity and projection, not compatibility and facts.”
Chase notes that once people learn more about their crush – their values, habits and how they show up in relationships – the spell often fades. By reframing a crush as projection rather than connection, she encourages clients to see desire more clearly and redirect energy toward relationships rooted in authenticity and compatibility.
