CHICAGO, IL – As she prepares to host “Battle of the Big Girls” with industry icon, co-host, and celebrity judge Sara Jay, Kari “Platinum Puzzy” Anthony, the passionate 21-year industry veteran, BBW trailblazer, and unapologetic advocate for plus-size performers, spoke exclusively with the Emmreport.
In a wide-ranging and deeply personal interview, Platinum Puzzy opens up about her remarkable journey, from stumbling into the adult business by complete happenstance to becoming one of the most respected voices in the BBW community. She shares how a simple phone-line gig during a financial emergency exploded into a career that quite literally saved her. “This business did a lot of things for me. It taught me how to be a business person. It taught me to be an entrepreneur. It built my confidence because I never knew that there were people who desired people like me,” she reflects.
Now, Platinum Puzzy is bringing that same fire and vision to Chicago this Friday, May 8, as she co-hosts and judges “Battle of the Big Girls” alongside the legendary Sara Jay at Loft 3940 inside the World-Famous Admiral Theatre. She picked up the phone and told the Admiral team exactly what they needed. “I said, ‘We need to do a BBW event at the Admiral. I would love to host it.’ And they were on board,” she recalls with a laugh.
Platinum Puzzy also looks ahead to her next big stage, hosting and performing at Exxxotica Minneapolis, June 26-28, during Pride weekend. A longtime Exxxotica family member since 2008, she first got involved after seeing a glaring lack of plus-size representation. She has since helped build that presence, including hosting the popular Curvy BBW Fashion Show.
A proud Chicago favorite who has returned for Next Level Plus bashes and multiple Exxxotica shows, she calls the city’s energy unmatched. She continues to host the fun, interactive Exxxotica.TV show “Boob Tube” every Wednesday, and runs iHeartBBW to create real spotlight moments where BBW performers are the main attraction.
After the interview, Platinum Puzzy reflected on why she designed the “Battle of the Big Girls” the way she did: “I wanted anyone, whether you’re just a housewife who wants to get on stage and have that experience, or you’re maybe a shy plus-sized person who’s like, I don’t dance, but maybe you have a bright personality, to be recognized and rewarded for other things besides just being a dancer.”
