Cherie DeVille Brings Industry Safety Perspective to WIRED Choking Debate

Cherie DeVille brings a veteran performer’s perspective to a new WIRED feature examining restrictions on adult content and the dangers surrounding sexual strangulation.

DeVille questions whether banning depictions solves the larger problem, noting that consumers may bypass local restrictions or move toward unregulated platforms.

She also points to professional set protocols, where boundaries are negotiated beforehand and simulated choking is performed without actual pressure on the trachea.

“This is a serious safety issue, and I don’t think anyone in the industry should minimize that,” DeVille says.

“But banning a depiction does not automatically give people the information they need to understand the risks,” she continues. “Professional sets rely on communication, consent and agreed boundaries.”

Written by Kat Tenbarge, the feature brings researchers, legal experts and adult-industry voices into a debate involving health risks, cultural normalization and regulation.

DeVille is a Brazzers exclusive available for booking through OC Modeling. Her career includes more than 1,700 onscreen credits, major honors and advocacy work.
