Launched Oct. 31, 2020, Dark Matter TV has now expanded streaming onto smart phones, tablets, OTT devices, connected television and desktops, through its App and FAST linear channels, and has surpassed its 1,000th movie to stream.
With their host of podcasts, documentaries, television series, and feature films, Dark Matter TV’s growth in just one year shows how niche streaming can have an effect with indie film consumers.
In the current state of the COVID-stricken film industry, Dark Matter TV is getting alternative entertainment to consumers by making the app and linear streaming free on all devices, TVs and platforms.
By targeting a niche entertainment pocket of horror, science fiction, true crime and action, and utilizing a “non-corporate TV” approach to its branding, Dark Matter TV has successfully expanded to Brazil in just the last month, gaining close to 8 million dedicated viewers. This successful international roll out of Dark Matter TV has lead to the channel’s upcoming launch in Mexico, followed by Italy, Spain, Australia and Germany throughout 2021.
Dark Matter TV allows viewers to binge fan favorites for FREE, with titles like William Castle’s House on Haunted Hill (1959), Anna Biller’s The Love Witch (2016), David Cronenberg’s Rabid (1977), Ip Man: The Final Fight (2013), Fantastic Planet (1973) and Golden Globe nominated feature, We Need to Talk About Kevin (2011).
Dark Matter TV also hosts collections exclusively from their horror collaborators. From Arrow Video are classic horrors, like Wes Craven’s The Hills Have Eyes (1977), Stuart Gordon’s Re-Animator (1985) and George A. Romero’s Season of the Witch (1972), and from Full Moon Features are comedy-horror Evil Bong 777 (2018), Gingerdead Man 2: Passion of the Crust (2008) and clown-horror Killjoy 3 (2010).
