Today, breakout Chicago-based singer-songwriter Delaney Bailey returns with a new single, “Wella” via AWAL. Listen / share HERE and watch the lyric video HERE.
Of the song, which was co-written with Gabe Simon (Noah Kahan, Lizzy McAlpine, Zach Bryan) and Carrie K (Noah Kahan, Suki Waterhouse, Amy Allen) and produced by Gabe, Delaney explains, “‘Wella’ is a song I wrote while watching my grandma suffer with dementia. She kept a beautiful garden and a full greenhouse in her good years, but ripped up her plants when her mind started going. My mom keeps a lot of plants around nowadays in an effort to remember her, and this song is my effort to remember her too. All my music is about her now, my Wella.”
“Wella” follows Delaney’s 2023 EP what we leave behind which was praised by Ones to Watch who said, “Bailey bravely sticks by her craft, goes forth, and doesn’t hide, wearing her heart on her sleeve and allowing her lyrics to breathe using subdued instrumentals to accent but not overwhelm her storytelling,” and her 2022 EP (i would have followed you) featuring hit single “j’s lullaby (darlin’ i’d wait for you),” which was featured in The New York Times’ “Best Songs of 2022.”
22 year-old Delaney Bailey was born and bred in Indiana. She began her music career while in college in Bloomington, releasing her first album during her junior year. She released what we leave behind in 2023 after relocating to Chicago. Since then, she’s garnered over 236M career streams, and a social footprint of over 737K followers.

Ralph Greco, Jr. is the devilishly clever nom de plume of professional writer/musician Ralph Greco who lives in the wilds of suburban New Jersey. He is also a podcast co-host, but as everyone has a podcast these days, this fact is of very little consequence.
