In addition to classic characters, Jason Reitman‘s Ghostbusters: Afterlife will also be bringing new characters and new ghosts to the big screen on June 11, 2021, and we’ve got our first official look at one of those brand new ghost designs from an unlikely place this week.
As reported by Ghostbusters News, the slimy specter was previewed on a recent episode of “MasterChef Junior” over in Japan, giving us our best look to date at a design that had previously been glimpsed in the movie’s trailer and upcoming toy line. He’s a Slimer-like blue ghost named Muncher, and it looks like he’s even getting his own Twinkies later this year.
A blob-like monster with six limbs, Muncher looks to be cut from the same cloth as Slimer, calling to mind the iconic ghost design while putting a new twist on it. And while we don’t yet have an official shot from the movie itself, this sneak peek should tide you over.
You can watch the full segment from “MasterChef Junior” below!
In the film, written by Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan:
When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind.
Afterlife‘s cast includes Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd.
Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver and Annie Potts are all coming back for this sequel to the original classic, reprising their iconic and beloved roles.
