August 27, 2021—Celebrated vocalist and songwriter
Kacy Hill debuts a new song, “
Seasons Bloom,” today alongside a visualizer—listen
here and watch
here. Her first new music since last year’s LP
Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again, “Seasons Bloom” was co-written and produced with
John Carroll Kirby (Frank Ocean, Solange),
Ariel Rechtshaid (Adele, Vampire Weekend, Charli XCX) and
Jim-E Stack (Caroline Polachek, HAIM, Dominic Fike). More music from Hill is imminent.
“‘Seasons Bloom’ is about finding refuge and moments of calm in the person I love,” says Hill. “Over the course of the pandemic I had gotten used to writing exclusively at home on my own—a big creative departure for me—so when John and I worked together he would come up with a few piano or synth ideas that I could take to go. Jim-E came to a session with us one day and plucked a few notes on the bass that started a weird lil jam called ‘Seasons Bloom.’ I took the session apart at home and turned it into something entirely different but kept the name.”
Furthermore, Hill will tour the U.S. this fall—her first ever headline tour and first live dates since 2018, with dates including
New York’s Mercury Lounge,
Los Angeles’
Moroccan Lounge and more. Tickets are on sale August 30 at
kacyhill.com.
Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again—largely co-produced with Stack and BJ Burton (Taylor Swift, Bon Iver, Charli XCX, etc.) between L.A. and Minneapolis—was released to widespread critical acclaim. Pitchfork said “The album acts as a therapy session, filled with bits of advice that suggest countering times of pain or heightened worry with patience and trust…Is It Selfish is bright and open, built with sounds that move and breathe with the artist,” while London’s Sunday Times praised her “captivating voice” and “serious talent” and Office called the album “dazzling, heartbreaking, and endlessly listenable.”
Born and raised in Phoenix and now living in Los Angeles, Hill got her start in 2014 when her self-released single “
Experience,” the second song Hill had ever recorded, started attracting attention online. After touring with Kanye West and Vanessa Beecroft as part of the cast of the YEEZUS tour, Hill signed to West’s imprint G.O.O.D. Music. Her debut EP
Bloo came shortly thereafter, and she’s since released two albums: 2017’s
Like A Woman and 2020’s independently issued
Is It Selfish If We Talk About Me Again. Throughout her career, Hill has collaborated and shared stages with Travis Scott, Kid Cudi, Bon Iver, Francis and the Lights, Cashmere Cat and countless others.
