New Single “Tamagotchi” Out Now

UK / EU Headline Tour Announced!

Story: Ralph Greco, Jr.

Emerging “power punk” sensations KID KAPICHI don’t do things by halves. Today, they announce news of their new single, a brand new album and a UK tour!

The band are set to elate us all once again with their nod to the ‘90s with new single “Tamagotchi”. Already chosen by BBC Radio 1 as their Hottest Record, “Tamagotchi” sees the KAPICHI lads in peak jocular form with a buoyant and playful ode to those coming of age.

“‘Tamagotchi’ is a song about turning 30 and feeling for the first time like your life is running away from you.” says frontman Jack Wilson. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found myself being more nostalgic about the past and the ‘good times’. This song is a homage to those times and fond memories whilst stubbornly clawing onto them.”

The band wanted to capture that nostalgia in a bottle for this video, even filming it on a 90s VHS camcorder and then digitizing it all.

“‘Tamagotchi’ is probably one of the most fun videos we’ve ever shot. Videos like these write themselves, when the imagery of the lyrics is so strong, so we didn’t mess about. We tried our best to replicate those feelings and memories we had when growing up.”

Today, the band have also announced details of their essential third album, ‘There Goes The Neighbourhood’, set for release on March 15th, 2024 on Spinefarm; it’s their third album in as many years, a statement of intent from one of the UK’s hardest working bands – a band who preaches a message of urgency. It’s a record that does what KID KAPICHI do best – make a real connection in the here and now, running the gamut of love, loss and what it means to be alive in Britain today.

“I know it’s a cliche, but this really is our best work ever. We put everything into this record, but actively decided not to stray too far from the path of ‘Here’s What You Could Have Won’, as we felt there was still more ground to be covered and honed on that vibe,” says Jack. “Lyrically and musically, it’s more concise, meaningful and deliberate, which ties everything together really well; it feels like a collection of songs from the same family.”

Having gained an ardent cult following with their 2021 debut ‘This Time Next Year’ and the rollicking 2022 follow-up ‘Here’s What You Could Have Won’, KID KAPICHI returned this summer with yet another instant hit, “Let’s Get To Work”, following in the footsteps of previous anthems, “New England“, ‘I.N.V.U’, ‘Smash The Gaff’, ‘Rob The Supermarket’ and ‘5 Days On (2 Days Off)’, solidifying their position as one of the UK’s most exciting bands to watch.

KID KAPICHI’s journey from their roots in Hastings to international acclaim has been nothing short of extraordinary. With a sound that combines the urgency of punk with establishment-challenging and socially charged tongue-in-cheek lyrics, the band have carved out a unique space in the music scene.
