Bloody-disgusting.com reports a whole lot about Legendary’s new Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie this week, with producer Fede Alvarez revealing to Bloody Disgusting’s Boo Crew Podcast that it’s actually a sequel to Tobe Hooper’s original classic, centered around “old man Leatherface.”
Additionally, we reported that Sally Hardesty is coming back, with Olwen Fouéré (Mandy) playing the character we haven’t seen since Marilyn Burns played her way back in 1974.
But who’s playing Leatherface, you ask? Bloody Disgusting has been able to confirm that Mark Burnham (Lowlife) will be the latest actor to don the skin mask and wield the chainsaw!
Leatherface was originally played by the late Gunnar Hansen, with various actors taking over the role for the many sequels, reboots, and follow-ups. Bill Johnson played Leatherface in Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2; R. A. Mihailoff in Texas Chainsaw Massacre III; Robert Jacks in The Next Generation; Andrew Bryniarski in the 2003 remake and its subsequent prequel; Dan Yeager in Texas Chainsaw 3D; and Sam Strike in 2017’s Leatherface.
David Blue Garcia (Tejano) directed the movie for Legendary, which was written by Chris Thomas Devlin and filmed last year. Stay tuned for more as we learn it.
Elsie Fisher (“Castle Rock”), Sarah Yarkin (Happy Death Day 2U), Mark Burnham (Wrong Cops), Moe Dunford (The Dig), Olwen Fouéré (Mandy), Alice Krige (“Star Trek”), Jacob Latimore (The Maze Runner), Nell Hudson (Victoria), Jessica Allain (The Laundromat), Sam Douglas (Snatch), William Hope (Dark Shadows), and Jolyon Coy (“War & Peace”) star.
