NIGHTBORN Releases “HAMMER OF THE HERETIC” Second Single and the Title Track off the Upcoming EP

Single cover art by thedarkside.art

“Existence is loneliness, won’t laugh again nor weep..

For there’s no God stronger than death, the beauty of its sleep.”

Story: Ralph Greco, Jr.

Nightborn explains that “‘Hammer of the Herertic’ dwells on the theme of the Inquisition, exploring the idea of revenge by heretics and witches. The song is a fast-paced thrash anthem that evokes the feeling of hammering on the heads of the inquisitors, contrasting with the infamous Malleus Maleficarum. The lyrics do not follow a straightforward narrative; instead, they aim to capture a more philosophical approach by indulging in themes of existentialism and the doctrines of the occult.”

For the recording of “Hammer of the Heretic” and the EP, Arda used an extremely rare Ken Lawrence Explorer guitar, the only one of its kind in the world. This guitar played a crucial role in the creation of this EP, which features four brand-new songs. The songs are unrelenting, speed-driven thrash anthems. The EP includes all music and lyrics written by Arda in classic Nightborn fashion, with Simon McKay (The Agonist) performing the drum parts, while Hubert Wiecek (Ex-Decapitated, Dieth, Blasphemer) handles the bass parts. The EP was mixed and mastered at Chris Donaldson’s studio in Montreal, CA, by Remi LeGresley (Grizzly Productions).

Nightborn will release one song from the EP each week, and the entire EP will be available on digital platforms on November 19th.

HAMMER OF THE HERETIC

I have lived

Far too long

So long I endured

All things end

Near me, it dwells

The illness can’t be cured

Hiding in the morrow

Those things of grief and sorrow

Fate’s a sea

Without a shore

No lead there to follow

Crushing

Bashing

Avenge

Hammer it down

Godless

Faithless

Saintless

Hammer it down

We have drunk

From rivers dark

Of rupture, ruin and rend

For no one will

Outlive his days

Not all knees can bend

Crushing

Bashing

Avenge

Hammer it down

Godless

Faithless

Saintless

Hammer it down

Existence is loneliness

Won’t laugh again nor weep

For there’s no God stronger than death

The beauty of its sleep

All you have

Won’t remain

In a world that’s faded grey

Judgement of the holy one

A mask that’s gone frail

Shadow of gods afar

The dimming weary star

Before I leave

One last time

Bury the snake of life

Crushing

Bashing

Avenge

Hammer it down

Godless

Faithless

Saintless

Hammer it down

Hammer of heresy

Hammer of heresy

Godless will hammer you down

About NIGHTBORN:

NIGTHBORN is a thrash metal band formed in 2012 by Arda K. that initially started as a one-man project, though some of the compositions date back even further. Nightborn focuses on producing melodic thrash metal, blending an old-school sound with elements from the revival scene.

Nightborn’s first album Skyeless was released in 2017 and was mastered at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden, which has previously worked with artists such as Kreator, Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, and Sepultura. The album cover art was created by Eliran Kantor, while the single artwork was done by Maximilian Mende. Nightborn’s lyrics often explore politically anti-system sentiments, the allure of dying and death, somberness, desperation, hatred and rage, serial killers and murder, the dark nature of the human mind, nightmares, and the night itself.

The band’s second album, Unhuman was released in 2022 and was also mixed and mastered at Fascination Street Studios. The album consists of fast, unrelenting thrash metal for the fans of great bands such as Slayer, Testament, Kreator, Sepultura and Exodus with additional dark melodic elements. The drum parts on Unhuman were performed by Krimh of Septic Flesh, Decapitated and Behemoth. Additional guitar edits were carried out by Gokalp Ergen, the vocalist of Mezarkabul.

Metal Injection premiered the video for “Grave Madness” from the Unhuman album on June 6th, writing “Nightborn’s new video for “Grave Madness” is pretty gross…the song also shreds”. The video was directed by infamous dark performance artist Louis Fleischauer. VIEWER WARNING! Discretion is advised as the video features REAL blood, skulls, bones, body modification, and actual hanging by hooks.
