Famous father and son artists featured in venerable Las Vegas sex-positive institution
Story: Ralph Greco, Jr.
The Erotic Heritage Museum is currently running an exclusive gallery exhibit of artist Luis Royo and his son Romolo that will remain in the EHM until August of 2024. The exhibit, opened in October, features twenty large pieces of these artist’s works.
Luis Royo was born in 1954 in Olalla, Teruel, Spain, and started to exhibit his paintings in 1972. By 1980, he was publishing his comics in magazines like “1984,” “Rambla,” “El Víbora,” and “Heavy Metal.” Three years later, Royo shifted his focus to illustration—the area in which he would become most successful—publishing his fantasy-based artwork internationally, creating works for the US, Germany, and Great Britain, as well as book covers for such prestigious publishers as Tor Book, Berkley Books, Avon, Warner Books, and Batman Books. Magazines often used Luis Royo’s artwork to illustrate their covers, including U.S. magazines “Heavy Metal” and “National Lampoon” and European magazines “Cimoc, Cómic Art,” “Ere Comprime,” and “Total Metal.” During these years, he also began designing video cases, lending his talents to such iconic video game covers as “Game Over,” “Turbo Girl,” and “Navy Moves.” Luis’s son Romolo, an artist in his own right,
The Erotic Museum’s Curator Katarina Bartley says, “Throughout his long career, Luis Royo has exhibited his work at art shows and galleries in France, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Russia, and the U.S. The Erotic Heritage Museum is excited to host this exclusive exhibition of his works and that of his son Romulo Royo for an entire year.”
Two songs from Salt Lake City multi-instrumentalist/Composer Mitchel Johnson’s “Murder of Fireflies” project, “Safe Words,” and “Nocturnal Dysthymia,” are featured as the soundtrack to the Royo gallery exhibit. Both songs currently enjoy over twenty thousand downloads on Spotify.

ABOUT THE EROTIC HERITAGE MUSEUM
The Erotic Heritage Museum houses more than 24,000 square feet of permanent and featured exhibits, championing the wonders of erotic imagination, as depicted through artistic expressions of sex and love. The museum’s ethos is that sexual pleasure and its depiction are natural aspects of the human experience and that such celebrations of individual human sexuality (i.e., pleasure) must be made available to all, regardless of gender, race, or belief.
With so much of global erotic heritage undervalued, criticized, or even lost over time, the EHM is dedicated to the preservation of as much erotic heritage as is possible to display. Scouring the world for their exhibitions, The Harry Mohney Erotic Museum furthers its purpose by providing space for scientific and literary functions relating to sexual, emotional, mental and physical health. As such, the EHM is as much an assemblage of some of the most important sexual artifacts, tableau, and interactive exhibitions in the world as it is a one-of-a-kind lecture and classroom space. In addition to the Museum space, the EHM’s main theatre is home to the highly popular live show, Puppetry of the Penis, as well as film festivals, burlesque shows, and more.
As the Sexiest Museum in Sin City and a rare North American museum dedicated to the study of sexuality, the Erotic Heritage Museum is a must-go attraction for any tourist visiting Las Vegas. The Erotic Heritage Museum is owned and managed by the Harry Mohney Erotic Museum LCC, a Nevada corporation, located at 3275 Sammy Davis Jr Dr, Las Vegas, NV 89109.
Ralph Greco, Jr. is the devilishly clever nom de plume of professional writer/musician Ralph Greco who lives in the wilds of suburban New Jersey. He is also a podcast co-host, but as everyone has a podcast these days, this fact is of very little consequence.
