Tommy Gunn Joins Marcela Alonso’s Get Schooled to Talk Memoir, Dating and Real Connection

DENVER, CO — Adult industry veteran Tommy Gunn joins Marcela Alonso on the award-nominated educational podcast Get Schooled for a candid conversation centered on his best-selling memoir, Tommy Gunn: Unloaded, and the complicated realities of dating and romance while living life as a globally recognized porn star.

The episode is scheduled to drop Thursday, October 29 at 9:00 p.m. ET/6:00 p.m. PT. Alonso uses the conversation to move beyond the public image surrounding sex work and focus instead on the emotional challenges that can follow performers into their private relationships.

“People don’t realize how much sex workers of all genders go through in love and relationships, how hard it is in this industry, and how much we all want real connection,” says Marcela Alonso. “I appreciated how authentic Tommy was, and how openly he shared. His honesty shows that sex workers, whatever gender they are, go through the same hardships in relationships. I hope conversations like this one change things for the better.”

Tommy Gunn: Unloaded takes readers inside what Gunn describes as porn valley and an industry he compares to a “casino”—alluring from the outside and difficult to leave once inside. The memoir looks at public perception, identity, manufactured fantasy and the pressure of living with labels imposed by others.

Co-authored by Jim Steele, co-edited with N.T. Anderson and Jon Ford, and published by Tepris Press, the memoir is positioned as more than an industry tell-all. It follows Gunn’s effort to understand who he is away from the persona that made him famous and frames that struggle through broader themes of identity, judgment and authenticity.

Gunn is now preparing a series of book signings, appearances and additional interviews tied to the memoir. The longtime performer has more than 3,800 credits listed at the Internet Adult Film Database, more than two decades in the business and Hall of Fame honors from XRCO, Urban X and AVN.

His work has also crossed into mainstream entertainment, including appearances in HBO’s Entourage, Louis Theroux’s Twilight of the Porn Stars, the films Wolves and Gangster Land, and an episode of Pawn Stars. Gunn holds a Screen Actors Guild card and continues to welcome dialogue- and performance-driven roles in both adult and mainstream productions.

Gunn’s working philosophy remains straightforward: “Show up, be cordial, and treat your co-stars with kindness. Building a good rapport with the people you work with is key—everyone wants to collaborate with someone likable, not an egotistical person who thinks they’re above others. That’s just not a good look.”

In 2025, Gunn released the documentaries Fans Only: The Human Side of Porn and Fans Only 2: Dreams Fame Desire with Joel Van der Molen, along with Tommy Gunn: Unloaded. He is also incorporating those projects with his interests in fitness, nutrition and male health through The Gunn Life, while continuing to spend his off-camera time outdoors, working out, traveling and watching movies.
