EMMReport Launches “Art Imitates Life,” Turning Feature Interviews Into Original Comic Strips

CHICAGO — EMMReport is adding a new visual dimension to its editorial coverage with “Art Imitates Life,” an original comic-strip initiative designed to turn memorable moments from feature interviews into illustrated storytelling.

The project launches with feature stories spotlighting Alana Rey and Goldy Kim. Select moments, personal revelations and standout stories from their interviews will become original comic strips created to complement the long-form features rather than simply reproduce them.

“We wanted to do something different—something that would make our feature stories jump off the page and grab people’s attention. When the idea of turning moments from our interviews into original comic strips came up, we knew we had something exciting,” said Sherman Wayez of EMMReport.

Each installment is intended to give readers another way into the personality behind the interview. The strips can focus on an unexpected revelation, defining career experience, humorous exchange or personal reflection that benefits from a visual treatment of its own.

The concept brings traditional long-form interviewing together with the accessibility and shareability of comics, allowing an illustrated moment to stand on its own while still directing readers back to the complete feature story.

“It gives us a fresh way to showcase the personalities behind the stories,” Wayez added. The goal is to broaden the reach of EMMReport’s interviews without replacing the reporting at the center of them.

For 35 years, EMMReport has covered the entertainment industry through correspondents, print, television, social media and the web. EMMNetwork.com launched in 2013 as an additional home for exclusive editorial coverage, while EMMReport has continued expanding across newer platforms, including LoyalFans.
