[of “Our Rebellion”] “a perpetual-motion weave of deftly picked guitar
lines in a brisk 7/4 meter, stacking up and realigning, jabbing and easing off,
sometimes running backward, as the crafty wrangling goes on.”
“The clear leader of her band of crack, Southern California musicians…
she was also our audacious guide, steering us toward exploration with the
shrewd parts she played on three different guitars over the course of four songs.”
“She is such a subtly kickass guitarist, and this record contains one of
the most beautiful, tear-jerking ballads I’ve heard in a really, really long
time called ‘Life According To Raechel’”
“Not only is she a master of arranging inimitable indie rock gems,
she’s an incredible guitar player, period.”
“From the melodies and arrangements to the lyrics, it is clear that
this LP is in the most vulnerable space, one of self-consciousness coupled
with a lot of emotion in every possible direction. Cunningham never has to
scream to make herself heard.”
November 10, 2022—Today, Madison Cunningham unveils a collaboration with the Miami’s 21st-century, genre-bending orchestra Nu Deco Ensemble for a stunning performance of her song “Life According To Raechel;”
“Collaborating with Madison Cunningham felt like working with a dear friend,” says Nu Deco’s Jacomo Bairos. “Her open and honest approach to music making, her musical vulnerability, and her ability to seize the moment, made it especially rewarding to make music with her on stage.”
“Madison is not only an incredible song writer, guitarist, and singer, but also a dream collaborator. It was an absolute pleasure to work in depth with her ideas to realize this deep and rich music for Nu Deco Ensemble,” says the group’s Sam Hyken.
The track is from her critically acclaimed new album, Revealer, which is out now and has received praise from the likes of New York Times, NPR Music and more. Listen HERE, and check out the webstore for an exclusive signed splatter vinyl HERE.
Cunningham recently teamed up with JHS Pedals for her own exclusive pedal, Artificial Blonde. The Artificial Blonde is a very simplistic approach to Madison’s signature sound: a never off, always on, slightly 3D pitch vibrato sound. Watch her chat about what’s on her pedalboard HERE.
She recently finished her successful U.S. headline “The Revealer Tour,” and is gearing up to embark on her nearly sold-out EU/UK tour including stops in London, Paris, Madrid and more. Tickets HERE.
