LOS ANGELES — Melody Jai is approaching her 40s as a chapter she spent years preparing to live. The author, entrepreneur and adult entertainer is challenging the expiration dates often assigned to women whose work involves beauty and sexuality, drawing on sustained inner work rather than a sudden reinvention.

Her adult-entertainment career began in 1999. A viral YouTube moment in 2009—her twerking video reached millions—became the foundation for an independently operated online adult business, well before going viral became an everyday expression.
In her 30s, Jai pursued yoga training in India and traveled to Peru for ayahuasca and plant medicine. Her 40s brought an RV, full-time travel and the completion of certifications that prepared her to support other people through their own journeys.
“Getting older has felt like stepping into the life I spent years preparing for,” said Jai. “I have greater freedom, a deeper understanding of who I am and the training to help other people find their own way forward. I do not have to erase the woman I used to be to honor the woman I have become. Every version of me helped create the life I have now.”
Today her work includes Nature Aligned Leadership coaching, teaching yoga with 500 hours of training, and her role as a High Priestess. A culinary graduate and chef, she also brings food into a life that encompasses sexuality, spirituality, entrepreneurship and travel.
Her debut memoir, I Thought U Should Know, recounts a 14-year, on-and-off relationship with a world-famous R&B singer and the healing process that brought her back to herself. She is available for interviews about reinvention after 40, aging in sexuality-based careers and creating a future without rejecting the past.
Born in Germany and introduced to travel early, Jai has pursued learning through direct experience. In addition to India and Peru, her travels have taken her to Alaska for work and across the country in her RV. Her entertainment background includes film-set work, music videos, and film and television credits under Melody S. Jones.
Her studies span elemental wisdom, astrology, archetypes and spiritual practice. Alongside High Priestess and intuitive oracle training, she completed a year-long Nature Aligned Leadership certification. Her stated approach to living is to experience all the things and sometimes do it for the plot.
The Creatrix sits at the center of her philosophy: a woman who thinks independently, accepts responsibility for her decisions and consciously participates in creating her reality. That outlook connects the memoir’s personal story with her conviction that women do not need to become smaller or simpler to live with integrity.
TheMelodyJai.com and MelodyGladden.com offer further information about her work. Together, her writing, coaching and creative history form the next phase of a multifaceted career rather than a rejection of its earlier chapters.
