Sean Young (Blade Runner, Fatal Instinct) is starring in a limited 13-week Off-Broadway engagement Ode To The Wasp Woman, a new play by Rider McDowell. Now playing through January 31, 2023, at The Actors Temple Theatre (339 W. 47th St, NYC), this hour-and-half play, with no intermission, reveals the last two days of four 1950’s “B” movie stars; Susan Cabot, leading lady of the Roger Corman’s cult classic The Wasp Woman; George Reeves, the man who brought Superman to life on TV screens across America; Carl ‘Alfalfa’ Switzer of the beloved “Our Gang” comedies; and B-movie queen Barbara Payton. These are actors that fueled our hopes and dreams at one glorious time in Hollywood’s past, people who met their individual demise through desperate, often sensational moments.

Told in four one acts, with music, director Rider McDowell sees Young in what is the veteran actress’ New York Stage debut. This alone, is worth the price of admission, as it is always fantastic to see well-known screen actors tackle a stage production. As we have seen her sparkle in such films as “No Way Out” “Blade Runner,” and “A Kiss Before Dying,” to name just a few Sean Young has starred in, she alights the Actor’s Temple stage here.

The cast here also includes: Josh Alscher as Carl ‘Alfalfa’ Switzer, Douglas Everett Davis as George ‘Superman’ Reeves, Jonathan Hartman as Flip, Payton Georgina as B-movie queen Barbara Payton, Rita Louise as Toni Mannix, Anna Telfer as Leonore Lemon and David Wenzel as Hank.
