‘System Shock’ Remake Pre-Orders Arrive Next Month Along With New Demo and More

Things appear to be getting closer to wrapping up for Nightdive’s System Shock remake. As detailed in a new Kickstarter update, the team is set to not only have pre-orders begin next month, but also a “final demo” is set for release next month, as well.

The pre-orders will go live for all console and PC versions of the game “near the end of February”, alongside a final demo that will include the medical level and cyberspace level, full dismemberment, all newly recorded voice lines, and “a ton of additional features and polish”.

As an extra bonus, those who pre-order the System Shock remake will also be getting a copy of Nightdive’s other upcoming release in the series, System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition. “It’s our intention to release both System Shock remake and SS2:EE around the same time,” explains Nightdive, who appear to be going above and beyond what you’d expect with the Enhanced Edition.

As Nightdive puts it, the remaster has “evolved into more than what we were intending”. Not only are all the character and weapons models being remade, but the devs have collaborated with the always-dedicated System Shock community to include many of the mods that SS2 fans have become accustomed to including in the game!

These included mods are:

• Vurt’s Space Textures, Flora, Hi-res Water, Organics/Goo
• ACC’s Four Hundred (400) Hi-res Terrain Textures
• Eldron’s Psi Amp
• Olfred’s Fixed Objects
• Grosnus’ Hi-Res Spinning Marine/Navy/OSA logos
• SCP
• SHTUP
• ZylonBane’s New Quest Notifier
• Vaxquis Vintage Song Remake v1.0 Mod
• Mercurius’ Tacticool Weapon Replacements

And yes, this also includes the new VR version of the game that Nightdive had given a sneak peek of a few weeks back.
